D is for Dog-Friday Mashup Challenge #15

Today I am participating in the Friday Challenge, and I made a card using both the colors and the sketch.  The card is using Stampin’ Up! “D is for Dog” set.  My friend recently lost her dog named Princess and I wanted to do a card that would capture her spirit.  I typically do not do such a vintage card but I wanted to use the new Beau Chateau DSP.  Yes, I used my first piece of the DSP which I received in a paper share.  The new DSP is fabulous, and so much better when you see it.  For this card I used a new technique although you cannot see it in the photograph.  I sprayed the card with alcohol mixed with a few drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  It gives the card a very subtle sparkle.  Oops!  I just realized I did not use Whisper White for the card but rather I used Very Vanilla.  I went back and forth between Whisper White and Very Vanilla but ultimately felt Very Vanilla worked better with the dog.  So for my colors I used: Pink Pirouette, Early Espresso, Real Red (I do not have any Riding Hood Red Ink), Old Olive, and Very Vanilla.  I was inspired to do the grass for the dog, after I saw the card shown in the challenge by Holly.  I thought it was the perfect backdrop for the dog.  The grass is a stamp in “Inspired by Nature”, and the bird is from the hostess set, Silhouette Sentiments (retired).  The ribbon is Pink Pirouette (also retired) with finished with an Antique Brad.  Thanks for a great challenge.

I also stamped the inside of the card, and placed the outline from the Top Note Die.  The frame from the Top Note Die is perfect for photographs, and I hope my friend will keep the card and put a picture of Princess in it.
