SSC #200 Fun Flowers

Fun Flowers Die

I just got the Fun Flowers Die and I had to use it even though it is similar to cards done by the 411 operators.  I also used the Fun Flowers to make felt flowers which the girls put on straw purses ($2.50 from Target) for church on Easter.  I made my mother 2 flowers with ivory and green paisley paper for her garden club scrap-book and she offered to pay me they looked so nice.  Actually after 7 years of college, 14 years of dance- I thought the least I could do for her is make Easter dinner, give her three beautiful granddaughters  and 2 Fun Flowers.
This is a short post because I just finished 45 baby shower invitations for my friend.  She wanted a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme, and I was inspired by a bud vase I got for a wedding gift 22 years ago in a beautiful  turquoise Tiffany’s box with a white bow.  I still have the box-go figure, and the bud vase.  Also I owe a big Thank you to Lee Conrey’s bow maker, otherwise I would have never been able to make 45 bows that look perfect.

Nature’s Nest SSC #199

Nature’s Nest and Petals/Paisley DSP SSC #199

Just a quick post since it is past my bedtime when I have to work the next day.  I really like how this card turned out.  It is with the Petals and Paisley DSP and the feather from Nature’s Nest.  This paper reminded me of a feather, although after looking at it longer it looks like a seed pod.  I do love the colors in this paper.

I used tempting turquoise with the paper, and right underneath is some card stock I got in the recent grab bag.  I think it is kraft cardstock.  I stamped the feather with staz on and then colored over it with markers marina mist, tempting turquoise, razzleberry and dusty durango.  I actually went back over the feather with soft suede.  I finished the card with crumb cake seam binding double bow.    I think this card would be great to give to a man or woman.  I will be giving it to a male friend and co-worker who had a medical emergency last week.   I made a second card and will be giving it to a female friend having surgery tomorrow.  I may consider a variation
of this card for father’s day.

Nature’s Nest SSC # 198

I made a shaker card for this challenge using Nature’s Nest.  The only thing I like to stamp better than flowers is shells.  I just got this set thanks to Lee Conrey, and I love it.  I wanted to do a shaker card and put some small welck shells I found at the beach in the card, unfortunately they were a little too big for this type of shaker so I defaulted with some dazzling diamonds.  I watercolored the scallop shell on watercolor paper, and it came out nice.  Not sure I will be sending this card to anyone, it was a little time-consuming and thick.  I did make a second card with the same shell that will be sent to someone.  I actually like my second card better and it shows off the shell.  I used So Saffron, and Bermuda Bay cardstock.  I have never used Bermuda Bay and I know it has been discontinued, but I also had some matching ribbon, and I liked the color combination.  The bottom sand is done in soft suede with a retired set called Shore Thing.  Sentiment is from You’re a Gem.  I cut the circles with the Coluzzle tool- Stampin Up has them for sale in the clearance section.  It is not a tool I use often but once you get the hang of it you can make a variety of circle sizes.

Nature's Nest SSC # 198

We hit 93 degrees here in Florida today.  Not sure what happened to Spring.  The weather should be back in the normal range in the next several days.  Because I made cards this weekend, I just filed an extension on our tax return I probably will wait to finish it when we are in the dog days of summer and I do not want to go outside.  Also I thought the federal government was going on furlough so I did not want to rush.

Thanks for letting me share. 🙂

SSC #197 Easter Blossoms

I have been working on this card since Saturday night.  My concept was to do an Easter egg wreath.  Not sure about the result,  the eggs from SU Easter Blossoms were more difficult to place than I thought.  I used shimmer paint for the first time and I like the way it came out even though it is hard to see in the photo.  I wanted to finish the challenge tonight and move on to another project.

Easter Egg Wreath

I went back to work this week and as expected it was rough.  Tuesday when I was leaving for work we had a terrible storm which produced some hail.  As I was driving out of the driveway a tree fell in the backyard.  It missed the house and pool which was amazing, I can only thank God for watching over my family.

Thanks for letting me share.
