SSC #174 Watercolor Garden Pastel

This is the second card for the SSC #174 Challenge, I messed up the URL post with the first tiger lily card.    I made this card for  sympathy card for my childhood dance teacher, Muriel Kaytor who passed away last week.  Initially I was using the Fall colors but after it was done, I felt the card should be more feminine.  Muriel was a great influence on my life as a young lady, and I am sure I would not be where I am today without the support of the great adults in my life as a teenager.  This card uses the colors Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, and Certainly Celery.  I used the pearl embellishments which I love, even though I am not sure I can afford them on every card.  As you probably noticed this is not the sympathy card but a thank you card.  I like to make cards in pairs so I also have a spare.  My kids love going to the card box to pick out a card for a special person.

SSC #174 Watercolor Garden

Tiger Lilies

I did the Saturday Challenge 174 with a combo of Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, and More Mustard.  I stamped the card with an old set called Watercolor Garden- one of my favorites.  The color of Poppy Parade reminds me of a tiger lily.    Of course I used the Big Shot with a new die called Frame, Circle Scallop, and embossing folder Petals a Plenty.  I am posting this picture for the challenge, but a I another version with Blushing Bride, Certainly Celery, and Pink Pirouette, and the E.F. Vintage Wallpaper and pearls.  The second color combination is beautiful but since I cannot photograph it outside right now I am posting the first one.

Owl Punch SSC 173

Owl Card SSC #173

I did this card using the Owl punch.  I just got the punch and was so excited to use it.  I started off thinking I would use the Halloween DSP, but after looking through the DSP, the black and vanilla of Love Letter just jump out.  So I used basic black, very vanilla, a touch of pear pizzazz, and a hint of pumpkin pie.   I didn’t have a branch punch, so I used the Elegant Lines embossing folder to make some branches.  I put a moon on the black paper before I ran it through the bog shot.  I was inspired by my demonstrator to do a moon from her card.  Finally the owls have rhinestone eyes.  Stamped Whoo Hoo with random letters.

The three owls represent my three daughter, and this will be a birthday card for my mother-in-law whose birthday falls on Halloween.  Thanks for this challenge.  My husband even like the card.

21st Wedding Anniversary

Today is my 21st Wedding Anniversary. With three kids in school there was no elaborate celeration just a celebration of our family. Initially when I titled this I typed Weeding instead of Wedding. Actually that word could have been used as well- 21 years of weeding through life day in and day out until what is left is a beautiful garden. It is so nice to see the tapestry that has been created over the past years and I look forward to future.

Lovely as a Tree Saturday Sketch #172
