I made this card as a thank you card for my friend that hosts a party at her beach front condo on the Fourth of July. My family went to the party last year and we were invited back this year- woo hoo. I am also entering it in 2 challenges.
The first Challenge is the Saturday Sketch Challenge #210 at Stamping 411, http://www.stamping411.blogspot.com. I always like to participate in the Saturday Sketch challenges at Stamping 411, and the Operators are such an inspiration.
The second challenge is The Friday Mashup #13. I participated in their challenge several weeks ago, and have enjoyed following the blog, http://www.fridaymashup.com/.
The Mashup #13 challenges is as follows:
This week for the Mashup Challenge #13, you are welcome to:
1. Create a project featuring the colors Red, White & Blue.
2. Create a Patriotic themed Project for (any Country).
3.Or “Mash it Up!” and create a Red, White & Blue, Patriotic
Project.
So on to my card- I used SU cardstock-Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy. I used SU Land of Free for the stamp, and inked it with Night of Navy and Real Red. I used the Night of Navy ink pad (I do not have this color marker) and the Real Red SU marker. I used the now retired Star punch and retired Real Red striped grosgrain ribbon. My demonstrator, Lee Conrey was cleaning out her stash, and I was a happy beneficiary of her kindness. I love the striped grosgrain ribbon, and I am happy to use all the colors even retired. In the center of the stars I put a silver brad after punching a hole with the SU paper piercing tool.
The dimensions are as follows:
First layer- 5 1/2 X 4
Second layer- 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
Image
First layer-2 1/8 X 3 1/8
Second layer 2 X 3
So now on to some big news- I think I am going to join SU as a hobby demonstrator with their new promotion it is just too good to pass up. I have been stamping for over 12 years, and I been stamping with my demonstrator Lee Conrey since at least 2006. Over the years I have been hot and cold, although over the last year I have tried to stamp at least once a week to reduce stress and have some “ me” time. I mentioned it to my husband last night and since his head did not spin around, I guess that was an OK. I would love to have any comments or tips about this endeavor. I also have been using WordPress since I started my blog in October 2010, if anyone that uses WordPress can recommend another design that is stamping friendly I would appreciate it. Unfortunately I have to wait until July 15th to sign up since I have a big trial week coming up, and new stamping stuff would only become a distraction.
Thanks for letting me share. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend. I will be waiting on the Casey Anthony verdict from Orlando, FL , innocent until proven guilty. I am so proud to live in the Land of the Free, the United States of America.
